How to plan a surprise trip

A romantic trip is a great way to get away from everything but your significant other. Planning a surprise trip makes the occasion even more special and gives you and your partner the chance to spend some quality time together.

People often love the idea of planning a romantic getaway but never bother because they think its too hard to organise. However, this is not the case. Whether its your first trip together or a trip to celebrate your 50th wedding anniversary, it’s easy to do when you stick to the following tips.

Firstly, consider your options for a romantic destination. Are you planning on driving your partner there or flying? If you are flying is it more convenient for you to drive to the airport or does it make more sense to take advantage of airport transfers? Think about the kind of mood you want to create, would your partner prefer a romantic city break or prefer walks in the country.

Deciding on the location will be your hardest task, once this is done research bed and breakfasts or small hotels in the area. You may think it’s better to go to a big chain as you then have some idea of what you are getting but, small and intimate accommodation can add a more unique sense to your trip.

If you do choose a big hotel chain, ask about special features in the room. Do any come with hot tubs or have jacuzzis or fireplaces which you can use? Once you have sorted your accommodation research the kind of things you can do whilst away. Are there any idyllic beach or country walks which you can do? You may also want to investigate cosy restaurants near your destination, but don’t forget to book a table for two.
